No — Freemasonry is not a religion, nor is it a substitute for one. Freemasonry is a fraternal organization — a society of men committed to moral development, self-improvement, and service to others. It promotes ethical living, charity, and brotherly love, but it does not prescribe any particular faith or doctrine.

Freemasonry welcomes good men who seek wisdom, fellowship, and the opportunity to make a difference — in themselves and in the world around them. If this interests you, all you have to do is find a freemason and ask. Freemasonry doesn’t solicit members. To join, a man must ask of his own free will — reflecting his genuine interest in personal growth, morality, and community service.
